All the islands of Thailand are usually divided into three large groups – the Eastern Islands, the Islands of the Gulf of Siam and the Andaman Sea Islands (the far south is usually distinguished here). It is best to plan a route within one region. So you can avoid long journeys (see routes below). If you belong to those travelers who plan a route on the principle of “all the best places”, you should pay attention to the Big Six of the Thai Islands, as well as the route the Best Islands of Thailand.
In the route – the coast of Krabi, Phuket Island and Phi Phi Island, located on the side of the Andaman Sea and Koh Samui, Phangan and Koh Tao on the side of the Gulf of Thailand. These two groups of islands, separated by land, are considered to be Thailand’s best islands for independent travel. As a result, the route is often chosen for the first acquaintance with Thailand.
This route can be recommended for the first visit to Thailand. The route includes three islands – a large developed Koh Samui with a lot of different beaches and attractions, atmospheric, beloved by the back-speakers Koh Phangan, as well as the tiny dive island Koh Tao.
There are four islands in this route: the large popular Koh Chang and the three small ones – the lazy, atmospheric Ko Mak, the idyllic Ko Kood and the almost wild Ko Wai. The archipelago is located just 4 hours drive from Bangkok, near the border with Cambodia. Travel to the Eastern Islands is often combined with a visit to Angkor.
The route is almost epic, the most beautiful “iconic” places of Southern Thailand can be seen right here – along the coast of Krabi and Phangan Bay. “Almost” – because a lot of tourists come along with natural beauty. But, having shown creativity, you can always escape from the tourist crowds – in this case, to the remote beaches of Phi Phi, tiny Krabi islands early in the morning, Koh Yao Noi and Koh Jum islands.
This option is created for fans of atmospheric non-touristic places. There are 5 islands in the route – an authentic large island of Koh Lanta with long semi-empty beaches and original culture, three tiny islands of the Trang archipelago (atmospheric Ko Mook, absolutely magnificent Ko Kradan and jungle-covered wild Ko Libong ). And also, without exaggeration, the most beautiful island of Thailand – the small island of Koh Lipe. It is located in the far south, near Malaysia.
